I need to put my mind at ease about something. A few days ago I flossed my gums and experienced some soreness and bleeding. About a minute or two later, I walked into my kitchen and took a drink from what I thought was my water bottle and swished the water around to soothe my gums. I then realized that MY bottle was in my bag where I had left it and the bottle I had used was not mine and probably belonged to one of my roomates or one of their friends. The water looked clear, the bottle tasted salty-ish but that could have just been a leftover food taste. I know that HIV
is not generally transmitted this way, but since I know for a fact that my gums were bleeding, would it be possible if there was blood on the mouth-part of the bottle and it washed into my mouth and around my bleeding gums? Especially if someone had just drank from it prior? I can't be sure of the oral health of the people I live with or that of their friends, and I have NO idea who this bottle belonged to. Three months seems like such a long time to wait to test. Is it needed?
