Blog about HIV from unprotected oral

Hi,
I posted a few months ago regarding my own HIV anxiety over an incident of being (vaginally) fingered by a male of unknown status and received a very helpful response. My own HIV anxiety has not completely diminished, however, and has lead me to discover this blog: http://nogoingback-thereisonlyforward.blogspot.com/2011/12/he-gave-me-more-than-bracelet-he-gave.html
above a woman who went to the Peace Corps and seems to have contracted HIV from unprotected oral sex. I'm wondering what others think about this, especially because there seems to be conflicting material out there about whether oral sex is or is not a risk of transmission??

It also makes me worry that if people think that oral sex is not a route for transmission when it actually is...what else could be a risk that we don't think about?

And if she had another std such as herpes or clymidia, theres not a definite chance she could of passed it from only one encounter right??? Because besides from me getting strep throat like symptoms a day after the encounter, I had no std relate symptoms , pls confirm if possible, thank

There has always been conflicting opinions about oral sex being a risk...we've posted about this here thousands of times...do some searching.

Entities such as the CDC is ultra conservative due to liability reasons.

Again, think of how many people in a day that are having unprotected oral sex.  Oral sex is just about THE MOST COMMON sexual act performed with a CSW.  If it was a risk...we would all know it, because there would be people left and right getting infected.  Not a handful of people in 30 years that have "claimed" to have gotten infected this way.

We're not going to keep repeating ourselves.

Teak, you see very smart with your posts...I did receive unprotected oral sex from a CSW with an unconfirmed status of HIV and literally a day or day in a half later I had some diarrea a fever n swollen glands only in neck n bad sore throat, no rash or swollen groin...me getting sick like that really got me nervous but I seen on multiple sites it takes several days or weeks for HIV acute symptoms to occur, my symptoms went away in 3 days and my doc even said it was strep not flu like and this was over 5 months ago and my blood test comes in 3 more days and I'm just very nervous, any words of reassurance? Thank you man

Your beliefs are not facts and the fact is, HIV is not transmitted by oral sex.

Its been said plenty of times that saliva has more than 12 enzymes that neutralizes the virus, believe it or not.
If that was the case then kissing would also be a risk and that my friend would mean that the whole world would be infected by now

Sorry but when I said we were getting false information I wasn't talking about this site, I was referring about all the studies that have been done and research on this topic.  I just feel that if there is blood from bleeding gums then the is a risk.

Nobody is going to lie or give false information about  a confirmed risk of Oral sex, there is no point in telling false info to people so I am sure that the likes of   Dr Hook, Dr Garcia, Dr Sean Cummings, Dr H. Hansfield , Teak etc..  if there was a slight possibility of getting infected through receiving oral sex they .would say it and they would ask you to test immediately  but there is no medical need to test for receiving oral sex.

Anyone can say anything, the fact is, if oral sex was a REAL risk, there would be hundreds of new infections every day.

The web is full of misinformation, oral sex is NOT a risk.  You have nothing to worry about!

I was feeling better about my situation after all the very nice responses I got but this blog just killed it for me.

Just because there is no real evidence regarding infections thru oral sex doesn't mean its not possible. Most people that have oral sex also have other risks behavior and that's why its hard to ping point oral sex as the caused.

I agree with you on this topic. I think we are getting false information about oral sex and this is a perfect example.

I dont believe this lady that went to the Peace Corps, she must have contracted HIV through other unprotected sex like vaginal or anal, she probably didn't want to admit she had other exposures.
ORAL SEX is safe sex, no real evidence regarding infections through oral sex
