And, because you were kind enough to post the basis for your opinion, here is the basis for my own opinion. Numbers were lifted from yearly HIV surv. reports generated by the CDC (they do not yet have the 2006 report available, as far as I know). This took a while to compile, but, based on these reports, my (albeit, simple) conclusion is that the number of new HIV infections is pretty much holding steady from year to year. There was a spike from 2001 to 2002, but, then again, there was a drop in reported cases from 2004 to 2005.
Here are the actual numbers:
******
Quick Look:
New Cases of Heterosexual HIV infection, by year:
2001: 4,537
2002: 7,953
2003: 8,605
2004: 8,651
2005: 8,028

Notes: One thing that strikes me as peculiar is the jump in the cumulative totals that do not jibe with the yearly totals. Maybe I missed something here, but it doesn't add up. This seems to hold true in later reporting years as well.

Gracias, I will read this stuff over and perhaps we may have a discussion. Thanks!

Teak,
I read one of your posts about increasing incidences of HIV infections in the heterosexual community and went out and did a little research on the CDC Web site. Specifically, I went through the years that were available (well, the ones I could find) and did a comparison of HIV infections in the hetero community year by year. My own conclusions, based on my (maybe flawed) research did not now show a significant jump in the HIV rates in the heterosexual community.
I posted the stats, and my conclusions, hoping that you or someone else would comment. Did you see that post? If not, and you care to discuss, I can find the earlier post and try it again.
No. Its because homosexual men or bi men who are married are going home to their wives after getting it in the ass by some stranger they met in a bath house or online. The stats are all freely available online for any geographic location.....
Drill into those stats a bit deeper and you will see most "heto's" are female, and/or from an endemiccountry.......you know it and i know it. This whole epidemic started with men getting sick from some strange disease nobody knew about, not women. The whole thing would end if men would stop having irresponsible sex with other men and then going home to infect unsuspecting female partners and/or stop sharing needles.
Fu*K you and your fear tactics.
How you gonna argue with someone named dumbo?LOL
Here is a fine example of a homophobic that doesn't believe heterosexuals contract HIV. I thought that type of thinking went by the waist side years ago. He believes only gay people get HIV and only gay people spread HIV. It's sorry that Medhelp has to deal with people such as this for the spreading of myths. Like I've said repeatedly, he's a WW that doesn't know anything about HIV transmission or AIDS. More than likely he doesn't even know anyone because if he did that would mean he was gay, because to him only gay people are infected with HIV. It's a shame that people like him still exist.

Post your "statistics" on the increase in HIV infections in the heto population dumbo. Explain why we are having a rapid increase in the heto population. Is it because of people like you stating that being heto and having unprotected sex now and then, you don
Give up, you aren't getting anywhere with me with your posts. You are not knowledgable about HIV and you have no personal experience with it. So give it up.
So, you are so intent on teaching...I am asking.
You say even if blood is spraying from the artery, gets up your nose, that risk is very small. HIV is a blood virus. Then you say unprotected vaginal sex results in hiv transmission all the time. There is no direct blood contact in this scenario. On top of this, vaginal fluid generally contains lower concentrations of hiv than blood or semen. The hiv then has to get into a small male opening into the urethra, cross a membrane, and get into the blood stream.
Which one seems more likely to happen? You accept that health care transmisison is low risk because of stats from 1985 to now....yet you do not believe stats on hiv female to male transmisison also tracked from the same timeframe.
Why?
Unless you are around an ER or you are a firefighter, EMT or cop, the risk of getting a drop of blood up your nose other than your own blood is zilch. Arterial bleeding is what causes the possible exposure because it sprays and the risk is minimal. There have been over 900,000 occupational exposures since recording began in 1984 and there have only been 97 confirmed contractions of HIV in the healthcare field.
