Blood work

I know there is a specific test for hiv but can a problem ever be picked up on a general blood test. My general blood had always been very good but I recently found out my ex-partner had been unfatihful with someone who was very promiscious. I just had the hiv tes,t but i am anixous. My cell count on other blood work I had since this incident is normal. I know if the cell count is off it count mean anything but if I had been infected almost a year ago would some kind of  count be off signaling I should investigate any and all possibilities. Yes, it was unprotected sex using withdrawal.
