Breast Milk & HIV... I've read the other questions, but how do you know?

I've read all the questions on the website that pertain to the transmission of HIV and breast milk and adults and how it "can't" happen. This website is the ONLY website that I have seen this on. Where are your facts when stating this? Every website I have found says otherwise, that if an adult is exposed to infected breast milk then they are at risk (for example this site: " Adults exposed to breast milk of an HIV-infected woman may also be exposed to HIV. " - http://www.thebody.com/content/art6119.html   I am hoping someone could show me where you're getting your information from, please?

Go into the expert forum and read what the Dr's have to say.

I already said that I have read the 60 or 70 some odd questions and they don't tend to be real clear, even with it comes to what the doctors say. Maybe you can point me in the right direction?

I don't mean to be bothersome but that is only bringing up all the questions I have read. Is there anything OFF of this website that supports the views and ideas expressed on here? Because I can't find it anywhere but this website.

There might be but we normally go with the Dr's on this site.
Maybe check out Dr.K out of SF clinic. He is right on target with Dr.HHH and Dr.Hook

Oh and the major difference between adults and babies is adults don't drink ounces of breast milk a day. If any milk happened to get into an adults mouth saliva would deactivate it.

Adults have mature immune systoms and infants don't. Infants ingest oz of breast milk daily and adults don't.

Once again, where are you getting this information from? I don't mean to sound redundant but that is all I want to know... there are two sides to everything and your side is saying that an adult is safe and others aren't... why would someone say that it isn't safe if in fact (according to you) it is. Please don't flame me I am just a curious person to know that is all.

Click and read my profile. Did you have a question about an exposure? If you don't have an exposure to discuss then I suggest your sign yourself up for college courses if you want to study HIV and AIDS.

I did click and read your profile. The reason I'm asking is because I've been talking to this girl... we haven't had sex yet and she said the last time she got tested was in February (which she was negative) with her ex-boyfriend (they both went) and she has been with one other person since him in which she got pregnant (the latter getting her pregnant, she said that previously she had gotten tested with him from '08 to '09 6 times and had the tests from then to show me so she felt he was safe). She had an abortion at the 3rd week of her pregnancy and then me and her started talking (she had the procedure done roughly 3 to 5 weeks ago). We got to messing around and she happened to say "Oh I could have some milk since I was just pregnant" and I tasted something funny but couldn't really tell and I stopped because I remember reading that one could be exposed to HIV via breast milk. I just got an HIV test after waiting 95 days (so it was conclusive) from a questionable hook up and I tend to worry about these things and this is something that has kind've been bothering me now that I think about it because I do tend to over think things. The only reason I'm asking too is because of the diversity of information in regard to this topic. It's confusing when someone says "Yes, you can get it from such an exposure even if you are an adult" and another person is saying "No, your immune system is fully developed" and all that. What if for instance, there was a small microscopic cut? Just saying... sorry to be a bother but I am just curious to know for my own sake.

HIV is transmitted by:
Unprotected anal or vaginal sex
Sharing works with other IV drug abusers
Mother to infant.

I did some research of my own and I would like to apologize for the question. It turns out that a woman can't lactate 4 weeks after conception (in her case, her body would still think she was pregnant due to the abortion). Therefore, I'm in the clear... they can only produce milk during the end of a pregnancy and after the baby is born.
