Brief insertive anal

Dear Doctor,
Happy New Year
I was on holiday in asia and had a few too many drinks met this guy walking back to my room. He was playing with me, then all of a sudden he was sitting on top of me, i said am i in in you he said yes! i said no never without a condom. He then got staright off, he said he was clean i said i dont care.. This would have been only a few seconds, i then checked my penis and it was perfectly dry and clean, even sniffed my hand after touching it and didnt seem like it had been up anything ! (a bit strange i know)
I know insertive anal is high risk just want to know how high this risk is as i am very concerned.. Still cant beleive this happened as i would never have unsafe sex and have never even had anal sex with anyone
Thanks for your time

No, my comments took this possiblity into account.  I would suggest the testing as above.  EWH

Thankyou for your response
I didnt penetrate at all but was inside for a brief moment when he placed it inside his anus, i do not know if he was HIV infected or not. Does this change anything? I know it seems odd it was not tight at all and i thought there would have been secretions or something on my penis if i was inside him

Welcome to our Forum.  This entire situation sounds a bit strange.  Variables include did you penetrate your partner? and was he HIV infected?   It seems unlikely that you would not know if you had penetrated him and likewise seems unlikely that he would not tell the truth after the events were over (since what was done was done).  Nonetheless, given the questions involved, it seems as though it is in your best interest to be tested.  My guess is that the chance of you being infected is far less than 1%.  Here are the statistical considerations.

Most persons do not have HIV.  Even with anonymous partners, the likelihood that your partner was infected is less than 50% and probably less than 10%.  Even if he was infected, your  risk of infection from a single exposure is statistically about 1 in 100 (1%) and given how brief your exposure was, probably less there as well.

While I would not consider this an indication for PEP, I would suggest testing.  At 4 weeks you can expect a definitive answer if tested with a DUO (combined HIV p24 antigen/HIV antibody) test.  If you only have access to standard HIV antibody testing, your results of testing would not be definitive until 8 weeks following your exposure.

I hope that this assessment is helpful to you.  EWH
