Broken condom, can I still get HIV. What is my chance of surviving

I'm an absolute idiot
I was in Dubai and picked up a sex worker from a well known
brothel.
We had protected oral sex (on her assistance) and then proceded
to vaginal sex. During the intercourse the condom broke, something did not feel
right and I pulled out, I think I was exposed for 30 seconds
I immediately washed myself with water and soap
I totally freaked out, but the sex worker said she got tested 3 weeks
go and wa negative. I refused to believe her, and she got angry and tries
to reassure me
I caught a flight back to London, went to a clinic and they put me on
PEP.
I want to know what my risk is of catching HIV from her? I feel
awful and guilty. I spoke to 2 doctors in Dubai one who said I have a
minimal chance of catching anything and the other said I had a high risk
I'm confused, I'm 2 days into taking the PEP and it is having side affects
If I continue taking the PEP will it significantly reduce my chance of catching
anything?
Pls help I'm worried sick and I've convinced myself I have Something

you can test 6-8 weeks after the last dose of pep for a good indication of your status
test again at 3 months for a conclusive result

At the gum clinic they stress that PEP reduces the chance of infection by 80-90%
I am a bit confused about HIV testing procedure though. Can I take a test as soon as I finish the pep or do I have to wait 1 mth (this is what the gum said) after the pep has been completed
I would like to take it as soon as possible for peace of mind.
Can anyone help?

It's unknown how much nPEP reduces the chances of contracting HIV. There is no way of measuring it.

I penetrated her quote deeply and touched her vaginal wall. Does tht increase my chance of infection?

for starters...it is unlikely that she has hiv and even more unlikely that 30 seconds of exposure would result in infection.

given those two facts...i am very surprised that you were given nPEP.

I started taking it after 2 days
does that reduce the risk alot?
So correct me if I'm wrong, here is the maths...
1/2000 chanceif she has HIV and full penetrative s x
i amcircumsized, and exposure was less than a minute and I'm taking PEP, so chance is significantly less than 1 in 2000?

nPEP is normally reserved for those who have had sex with a known hiv positive person.  how long after your exposure did you start the nPEP?

Your body aches are most probably due to anxiety.

A risk is a risk. Don't try to put theory into practice. It is a fact that vaginal sex is less risky compared to anal sex, particularly for the male partner, but testing is required for every unprotected penetrative sexual intercourse with a person of an unknown status.

Overall, it is unlikely that your partner had HIV, and it is unlikely you would get infected if she did.  So the odds are in your favor.

Thanks for comment, it ha calmed me a little
but I get totally freaked out by HIV tests

is that 1 in 2000 for someone with known HIV?
Does anyone know how much PEP reduces the
chance of catching anything?

I duno I've convinced myself that I have something
my body aches isn't that a sign?

the Doctors on this forum stress the chance of transmission for a COMPLETE insertive unprotected vaginal episode at 1 in 2000.  The fact that your exposure was less than a minute gives u a lower chance.  I have the same situation so I feel you but I never got on a PEP.  My doctor wouldnt even test me after my six week negative.  I went to a free clinic and tested negative at 9-10 weeks.  Just get tested at 6-8 weeks. If it is a negative (which it PROBABLY will be) then get another one at 3 months post exposure.

Good luck man and seriously, the WORST thing you can do is search the internet for symptoms.  So just try to relax.

The risk of HIV infection via unprotected vaginal sex is lower for the male partner. It is unlikely that you got HIV from a single exposure, but you need to test to be completely sure.
