CD4 CELL COUNT

CD4 CELL COUNT

Hi, I wanted to know if a white blood cell count on a routine test can be indicative of HIV infection. I understand many other things can cause a low blood count, but since CD4 cell counts are part of the WBC, can a sudden decrease be related to HIV. In other words, assuming someone is positive with HIV and they have a very low CD4 count, would their white blood cells appear low as well.

Thanks much.

NO your WBC will not tell you if you have HIV.
Not necessarily.
