CDC and Dr. Bob

Hello everyone,
I have two questions I would like peoples opinion about. 1. I called the CDC about how they mention that 97% of people show anti-bodies at 3 months and 3% don't. I asked who the 3% were and the guy said because of their immune system. What he said freaked me out! Not only people with compromised immune systems, but healthy immune systems. He said people with healthy immune systems can fight off the infection and not show anti-bodies. I thought that was the reason anti-bodies show up because there fighting off the infection. I 'm scared to death now. Also, what is peoples opinion about Dr. Bob. It seems like he's a respected professional , but some don't think he knows what he's talking about.
Thank you, Mike

"i can simply find no other reason for my rapid weight loss...fatigue...tingles....extreme loss of appetite and day to day diarrhea"

these are common "symptoms" that pretty much everybody on this forum complains of...it's from anxiety ! ! !

you are reading waaaaaaaaaay too much into this vitamin d deficiency.  there are MANY things that can cause this...meds, smoking, fat malabsorption, being lactose intolerant...the list goes on.  it can even be a hereditary issue.  STOP trying to link it to hiv...geeeeeezz.

i understand he is very knowledgeable....but this a very hard time for me....i just hope everyone is right. i can simply find no other reason for my rapid weight loss...fatigue...tingles....extreme loss of appetite and day to day diarrhea. its every sign you can imagine....plus the fact that my vitamin d is low means my immune system isnt as strong as it was....and does hiv not attack the immune system? plus i have herpes. but honestly..no more from me because you are all saying i do not have it nor even the smallest concern of having it....so i'm going to try and come out of this slump....once my rna test comes back i will hope to experience no more of this. my final thanks forum

Since you're quoting Teak, you'll also note that he quite correctly listed 3 specific groups whose immune systems may possibly take longer to develop antibodies for HIV. Vitamin D deficient persons was not on that list. Even if you WERE on that list, you will have tested positive at the 6 month mark...

You can and should put your HIV fears to rest. Arguing facts with people who are a.) much more knowledgeable about HIV infection than both you and I, and b.) trying to provide honest, FACTUAL information to you, will only serve to feed your obvious anxiety.

I am a SHE...and  i today i found out my immune system is compromised. specifically my vitamin D...which is what triggers antibodies. so i do have a concern.... to quote teak , " a person with a compromised  immune system which takes the tests longer to detect." that is my exact issue! so how do i not have a concern

One thing the people that answer the phones are no more than a telemaketer reading from a prepaired script and most don't know the first thing about HIV. Persons with a health immune system fights a more vigous attact and the antibodies multiply faster than in a person with a compromised  immune system which takes the tests longer to detect. As for justjazzy he doesn't have an HIV concern.

Hello,
I'm none of the above. Why would the guy at the CDC and JustJazzy's clinic say a healthy immune system would fight off HIV? Isn't that what causes the production of anti-bodies to HIV? It scares the hell out of me to think that not only if you have a compromised immune system seroconversion could be delayed, but with a healthy one? I 'm not trying to pick a fight with anyone or **** anybody off, but hearing that scared the crap out of me.
Thanks, Mike

People who may and (it's rare)  take longer than 3 months are those that are on Chemo, those taking antirejection drugs for transplants and chronic IV drug abuser.

Now which one of those are you?

Hello,
So I'm asking straight out if a healthy immune system can delay the production of anti-bodies to HIV?
Thank you, Mike

Now...if its weaker it should take substantially a longer period for the immune system to create anti-bodys.....logically speaking.!

Logically its not true. if your immune systems strong shouldnt it cure disases faster? meaning ....it should make anti-bodies faster and it SHOULD'NT take 3 months to show up!

Hello,
So can a healthy immune system cause the antibodies not to show up?

A tester at my clinic was saying the same thing, about healthy immune systems fighting off the infection.  How long post exposure did u test? I tested a lil after six months.....negative, but I been concerned because they were rapid tests and my body's still been going crazy on me. I'm waiting on my lab work back...very worried, but the ppl here know what they're talking about so let's try to have faith in our negatives outside the window, the CDC (all be the 3% confusing ) and the experts here. Only reason I've been sleeping at nights.
