CDC chat-window period-inadepression

Hi Inadepression, I read the post you started and am very interested in the long debate regarding the window period. I understand very well the anxiety levels of yours and others who has read what CDC states in their website regarding retesting at 6 months from exposure. As I am not from the U.S. and have no access to CDC, your teleconversation with them is probably my only access to them.
However, even in their website, they NEVER say that if tested -ve at 6 months, the results are conclusive;100%. Did you check that with them? WHat have they got to say about that? I have tested up to 7 months, I sure hope that it is enough....

i live in an islamic country where talking about HIV/aids is taboo. I believe the testing period is based on CDC's recommendation since we are not as advanced as the U.S.

Any anxiety you have you put on yourself. You've created your own anxieties.

You'll need to ask your health regulators why their testing period is like it is. We have a conclusive negative result at 3 months in the U.S. and those that test out longer are those that know it MAY take longer due to their illnesses which is very, very rare.

"Anxiety over HIV is NO laughing matter. It can destroy a person's life."
This was the most significant statement that I have read in this forum.

This anxiety really ****** my life!

Also, shame on medicine. People are discussing the window period for 10-15 years and there is no concrete answer. It makes me sick.

IN my country, No doctor would ever say " u r HIV free,100%, no further testing needed". I even encountered a doctor who says " who knows when one will test positive, weeks, months maybe even years". Obviously I change doctor after that, but here most doctors are very conservative, they always say window period is 6 months, that is why I have tested up to 7 months

Don't read the websites, if you want information see your doctor or your STD clinic.

I understand now that CDC's task is to prevent further spread of the disease, therefore it would only make sense that they would use the most conservative window period ( double of the practical 3 months) to make sure all cases would be accounted for. So, 6 months is just to double confirm what has already been confirmed in the 3 months test result.
What really irks me off is other websites which even suggest testing up to 12 months and every 6 months after that. Yes, I have seen such websites. Where in the world did they derive such info???It would be sooo irresponsible to state such things. Anxiety over HIV is NO laughing matter. It can destroy a person's life.

Nothing in life is 100% dude. All have the chance to live till their fate---Death can crawl in evryway--It is not up to you/Government/Health Services/Guidelines--- to say i am 100% free. Yes death is 100% and we have to leave one day later/earlier on its fortune.

No test is warranted after 3 months/12 weeks period as per the UK Guidelines.

Actually, this is not related with ill-informed people. CDC website says: In some cases, people may produce antibodies after 3 months. This is the case. I do not care CDC consultants but care CDC as an organization. In fact, CDC is governed by Bush team. It may be a very small probability that CDC uses scare tactics to prevent hiv spread. But anyway, as extremestress told, people should take tests until they relax. I will relax after 6 months, some will after 3 months. Some believe 3 months, some 6 months. After 3 months, 1 out of 1.000.000 may seroconvert. Some does not care this ratio. This seems logical but i care it unfortunately. That's why i am going to take the test at 24 week. I will take combo/duo test.

There is no 100% true in life, especially in science.
I am also living outside of U.S.
You can make chat with CDC people: www.cdcnpin.com
Look up and right. You will see "live" button.
By the way, know that they are not doctors. Only paid advisers. Yesterday, i talked to them again and guess what? The adviser has never heard combo/duo test.
Your 7 months test is conclusive even your partner was hiv positive.
