it would seem that it is highly unlikely. Doctor's replies, as well as many members here have replied that there is no risk. Why then does the CDC say that there is a risk. This is directly from their website:
It would appear theoretical.
Look after your mouth :-D I wouldn't stick my wiener in someone's mouth who is spitting blood, not due to fear of HIV just that it's not very nice.
No cases of transmission in the medical literature via being sucked or sucking.
Agencies involved in health protection have to be cautious. USA and now the UK are litiguous (sp?) societies.
I telephoned the CDC info line this morning re the window period (3 months or 6 months?, 97% except rare cases? am I one? blah?). I think I got the person who was unable to talk themselves out of the nighshift on Saturday night.
You've done better speaking with a clinical Doctor, the CDC are epidemiologists, many of whom have not been near a patient in years, let alone a blood draw or HIV testing kit..
The official CDC line is that you can get HIV from oral sex, although most experts and studies disagree. Even if the CDC is right , the risk is negligible when you consider the numbers involved.. millions of cases of HIV , millions of episodes of oral sex and only a handful of cases where it has been claimed that hiv was passed through oral sex( please note, most of these are unverified claims)
