Can HIV be transmitted through a cocaine straw?

Hello,
I am really worried that I may have contracted HIV through the shared use of a cocaine straw with a close friend of mine who is HIV positive.
We shared straws a few times over the past few months and I didn't want to hurt her feelings by saying anything about it.
I have lots of questions, and I can not find many answers.  It doesn't seem like there are many answers about this.
I have had a sore throat for two weeks and serious diarrhea for at least a month.  I also have a cough, and I feel like I'm starting to lose weight.  I generally just feel sick and I'm not getting better.
I want to know if it is possible to contract HIV from a shared cocaine straw; if even microscopic amounts of blood that may be present could transmit the disease?
How soon does one have symptoms?
What are the most common symptoms?
Should I be worried?
How soon should I be tested?

HIV does not stay active outside it's host and HCV does.

Why would Hepatitis C be transfered in this manner but not HIV? What is the difference?

Tell her you are trying to minimize the risk to her by not sharing the straw man. Tell her something about staph and hep...if she does'nt care, then just tell her your afraid of hcv, staph and don't want to share the straw with her anymore...

No you cannot contract HIV via snorting coke through a straw. You were at possible risk of contracting HCV.

Don't share the straw anymore aimeleigh-keep extra ones, it's always best to minimize contact with other people stuff. It's possible in theory, maybe, but highly unlikely. I would worry about hep and staph, but that's just my paranoid, anxiety driven personality make-up...

I know that my nose bleeds a little when I use coke and that I notice small amounts of blood or tissue on the straws I use.  I'm afraid that this kind of contact can transmit HIV.

Staph infections can occur-staph lives inside of the nasal cavity aimeleigh. As for hiv exposure i'd say that it seems low to non-exsistant. I don't really think this is a risk for transmission so getting into symptoms is not needed. I would'nt test bases on what you said your unlikely to have hiv..
