Can I get tested for HIV if I have a viral infection?

I have had an on and off rash for a week and on Monday I got a fever. The doctor told me I have hand foot and mouth disease. I'm not sure how I could have gotten it, as I am 23 and don't have contact with children. I want to get tested for HIV again, but wasn't sure if it could create a false positive since I have another viral infection.

Hand, foot & mouth disease is peskily contagious - sorry you got it.  HIV tests are looking for HIV-specific antibodies (and within the first month post-exposure, antigens), so having another virus will in no way interfere with your test results.  If you take a 4th generation test now, you can collect your result.

Of course you will only be testing for your exposure 5 months ago.  The encounter 2 months ago was with someone who's negative, and he can't possibly give you what he doesn't have.

Thank you so much for your help. Not sure if you'd know but can hiv be misdiagnosed as hfmd, because I don't know how i would have gotten hfmd.
You didn't answer my question what was your sex activity?
Highly unlikely, and HIV is never diagnosed by symptoms.  It's pointless to speculate since you are eligible for a conclusive test at any time now.  Just go take a test.

I had unprotected sex with a guy about 5 months ago that said he was clean and negative. And then a different guy 2 months ago but he is negative and on Prep.
oral or anal?
or vaginal?
If they had conclusive tests negative at the proper intervals then they couldn't infect you if they didn't have unprotected sex from testing until your activity.
it was anal
