Can an abscessed tooth compromised immune system

I have an abscessed tooth that is very bad (It has been bad for a VERY LONG TIME. I was wondering could that compromised the immune system by lowering my white blood cell count from fighting off the infection?  or can I still get tested in 3 months for a conclusive answer or do i need to wait out to the 6 month period.

Thanks
