Candid advice

Doctors,
I have read various posts, however, seek your expertise and candid thoughts. Male, 25 yrs old, Caucasian , 5,7 , 170Lbs.

4 years and 4 months ago ( I know because I did relay for life the next morning) I had unprotected vaginal and oral intercourse with a female in ohio. This was while I was in undergrad. 2 wks after red, scaly rash around urethral opening, and extreme redness and pain after ejaculation. Another week and I was very ill with , white pus pockets on both tonsils, cough, low grade fever 99-100 F, conjunctivitis etc.

Over the course of these 4 years I have moved one until a few months ago. Testing history was extensive, on my request and I have mostly been to UNiversity health clinic and lab quest on my own ( No insurance other then university)
testing: 7 weeks after : herpes, chlamydia, Gon, trich, HIV rapid ALL NEG (already had Amox at this point)
10 weeks: UNDETECTABLE VIRAL LOAD RNA

I had 30 Neg HIV tests ( I know a lot :)  but symptoms persisted. I moved on and became engaged a few years back to a nurse and then married. We were both tested prior to intercourse but I was her first. she was my 4th. both neg Oraquick.

summary: wife has had a coups amount of health problems since unprotected intercourse with me. EDG, colonscopy, CBC, etc etc done by Gastro eventually dx of IBS. she has also had a kidney bean lymph node movable (anterior chain) that stings .... had her do a HIV-1 Home access a few months back and was NEG.

I had a DNA PCR , ICMA HIV 1/2 labcorp all Neg.

For the past 2 years I have had prickling in my toes at night and sometimes a few toes go numb from time to time. I have tried moving on from this long exposure but all this has brought back my HIV thoughts. Ive had tons of HIV test from PCR to rapid, (oraquick, home access, etc) all Neg. yet prickling and numbness continues. I am borderline hypertensive , 130/90 but other then this have not been sick since this exposure 4.4 years ago.

Thank you for your time.

Welcome to our Forum.  The advice provided in this Forum is always candid and we hope, helpful.  It is time for you to put your concerns about HIV and other STDs aside.  The tests for HIV are amongst the most accurate tests available for diagnosis of any infection and when a person has had repeated tests using a variety of tests such as you have they are to be believed (to be honest, a single test should be believed but the cumulative evidence provided by repeated tests over time become incontrovertible).

I am not dismissing either your signs and symptoms or those that your wife has experienced but to link them to a regretted sexual experience years before in the face of the evidence you have is not appropriate and, in your case, may be preventing you from looking for other causes/sources of your difficulties.  You do not have HIV.

I hope this comment is helpful to you. EWH

Dr. Hook,

Thank you sit for your thoughts, I greatly appreciate them. I certainly agree I have taken more HIV tests then I ever cared to :). I went through counseling a few years back when this happened, and moved on until my wife started with all this stuff. Eventually her Gastro dx her with IBS . She is on Bentyl an zof. For nausea . She is a nurse and again she came home this morning feeling nauseous  . It happens a few times aweek.

Disappointing to myself but I took another Home Access HIV test this morning and will get the results back tomorrow. I didn't want to test but I have a biochemistry exam on Fri and can't focus .

So at 4years and 4 months past this should be definitive correct, and my wife's IBS symptoms and a stinging lymphnode ? She took a homeaccess test for me a few months back and won't take anymore because she says it's not HIV also .

I won't have any additional
Comments after your reply . Thank you for your time
