Clarification of Types of Tests

When you guys refer to conclusive HIV tests at 3 months, are you referring to the DUO or the traditional antibody?

Pleasure - people re on here to help and give the best advice we can.

The web is a dangerous place full of old data and incorrect rubbish much of the time.

In terms of the whole "six month thing" - ignore it.

Older tests (gen 1 +2) may have taken up to six month to pick things up but these days, even the CDC agrees that a 28 day Duo test is considered conclusive with no requirement for a further test.

All the best buddy!

3rd gen is considered conclusive from 3 months but highly accurate from 6 weeks, if a person had HIV, it would be picked up by this test at three months.

Ignore the chat online about delayed seroconversion, many people discussing it are just spreading Chinese Whispers to peddle anxiety.

Hope that helps !

I don't mean to be a pest. The only reason I ask is because several sites mention that a 6 month seroconversion is rare for "modern" antibody tests, and I wasn't sure if a 3rd generation antibody test would be considered "modern."

Okay, what about just a traditional antibody test. Not the DUO.

Duo is an antibody test and would be conclusive at 3 months. Some take the 28 day as an indicator but would need the 3 months for confirmation.
