Clearview Complete Rapid Antibody Test

Clearview Complete Rapid Antibody Test

Hi, I went to an Out of the Closet Thrift Store to get tested for HIV today (the Clearview Complete Rapid Antibody Test).  The person who conducted the test was very nice, explained everything, and seem to be very knowledgeable.  He took blood from my finger and about 5-7 minutes after he started the test he told me I was non-reactive for HIV (meaning I am negative).

What concerns me some is that I am reading on the internet that you should wait 15-20 minutes to get a result.  I asked the person who conducted my test why he did not wait the full 15-20 minutes and he said that it was not necessary.  That as soon as there was one red line that showed the test performed properly you can declare a negative result (assuming that 2nd red line does not appear and show you are reactive to antibodies).  He said that he has never seen a change from negative to positive after seeing that first red line showing that the test was performed properly).

My question is, what should I do here?  Do you think I should retest?  The guy who gave me the test seem to be very experienced.  Do I take his word?  Is there anyone out there who took the clearview complete test and had results so quickly?

Thanks,

Dale313

Why did I get your warning?  This was the first I have posted regarding this question.  While it is true that I have asked prior questions about my risk for HIV, I have never asked 1 question regarding the accuracy of a test.  My question is legitimate...I need to know what to do here.  I have no health insurance and I need to know ASAP if I have HIV.  If you or others have any input on the accuracy of my test, I would like to know about it.

Again, this post was my FIRST posting on this particular issue.  Was a quick 5-10 Clearview test okay or should I get retested?  I would appreciate some input from you or anyone else that can help me here.  While my risk is low the CDC does say that it is possible to get HIV from oral sex and also if a latex condom was not used.  Therefore, I am getting tested just to make sure everything is okay.  I hope you understand. :-)

Thanks again,
