Just wanted to update this topic because I always wanted to see updates on other people's threads and sometimes they never came.
I got a negative oraquick advance oral fluid swab at 68 days, 2 days short of ten weeks. I'm trying to move past this issue now, with a negative 10 week oraquick advance test and a 2 week negative RNA PCR.
Hope everyone is hanging in there.
Dude you are negative, you CANNOT get hiv from testing the medical exposures you list ARE NOT EXPOSURES, your only exposure was with CSW and it wasnt even a risk, I know is hard to believe I`m worried as you are, you read mi question to the dr, and his answer, a 7week negative test, plus your extremly low risk are conslusive move on.
update, I got a negative rapid Oraquick advance at 7 weeks and 3 days, so i'm feeling a bit better because the massachuseets national institute of health says that 6 weeks is conclusive. However, i still have 2 lingering questions.
Is it possible that having another STD at the same time, ie. herpes could make me a late seroconverter?
also, during this period, my medical exposures have been:
-visited the emergency room 5 times, 1 penis swab
-2 HIV blood tests at my university health clinic
-1 HIV oral swab test at a comprehensive care clinic for positive people
-1 HIV RNA/PCR test at the bellevue hospital
somehow my mind keeps switching back and forth between worrying about the initial exposure, and then worrying that somehow despite my low risk exposure, I exposed myself through testing. Can anyone please help me, providing insight in any kind of way? thanks a lot guys
its your mind playing tricks on you
i suddenly grew a mole/beauty mark and have swollen/sore node under left armpit, please help!
3 months post exposure is conclusive no matter what test you take
yeah i know, but I was worried i guess because I had symptoms after the event and ran a few flus. I guess my point is, negating risk, do you guys think a pcr at 14 days and 5 week and 2 days antibody test is conclusive? And lastly, I've been paranoid that the whole process, visiting the ER 4 times, getting 2 penis swab tests, and 3 times blood drawn may have increased my risk, which i would regret immensely if my original encounter was low risk, u guys know what i mean? I'm afraid that if i put myself at additional risk, the window period woudl have restarted. This process is so confusing and hard to keep neat, it drives one crazy. Should i get one more PCR? I called a testing facility in NYC and they said that PCRs should take 30 days. However, the people I tested with, which I might recommend to others, say they're on the cutting edge of HIV research and that is why they could confidently tell me that I was not infected within a SIX DAY period. thanks for the help guys
mate, chill
this is easy for me to say now. however i had these similar symptoms plus more. always felt like my groin glands were sore. repeated testing to a ridiculous level and wasted so much time and money. your exposure is no risk and your symptoms are in your head. its hard to believe but its true. TRUST ME IVE BEEN THERE. if you really cant let go which was the same for me after minimal risk then test at three months and no more and to help you read all the positive notes like those above and stop searching the internet and for symptoms that dont exist.
easy
You never had a risk to begin with.
Consider using water-based lube in future liasons to stop things feeling dry.
I concur with uniquelyman, you never had a risk to begin with.
Also, for some one who had a real risk, the time frame for the RNA PCR that you have gotten was PERFECT backed up with an almost 6 week negative would rule our HIV.
But for you, the fact is you wasted time, money and energy, you didn't need to test. You didn't have a risk.
huh? They put you thru all those tests for those incidents you mentioned?
Dude, you don't even need to test.....I am sure your illness are not HIV related according to your "hands touching inside condom".
