Condom Broke - Pretty Scared

Hi everyone,

Sorry for my poor english, I´m a 21 year old guy from Colombia.

On August 31, I had sex with a 17 years old bisexual guy who I met that nigth. During the encounter the condom broke, so I was unprotected for a minute or two at maxium, he didn't finish because we stopped the encounter. I was nervous so I asked him if he was HIV positive, and he told me that he was pretty sure that he was negative altough he never took a test because he always uses condom. I couldn't believe him, so two days later on September 2, I convinced him very easy to take an Elisa Duo Test (HIV & P24 Antigen). Fortunately it came negative.

My point is that I'm pretty sure that the guy didn't get HIV 84 days from the test, maybe is 80% likely that he also didn't get HIV 28 days from the test. That's 26 days before our encounter. The thing is that I can't stop thinking about this and so I wan to ask you guys these questions:

1-) Is a high risk the pre-cum that he migth left inside me during thats 2 minutes I was unprotected?
2-) Is likely that he got HIV during the 26 days before our encounter?
3-) In this case, what are my odds?
4-) Should I stop thinking about this?

Many thanks for your time and responses,

Juan Daniel

I have an update:

The guy took a duo test at 38 days after the encounter and it came negative. I also took a duo test at 42 days after the encounter and it came negative too.

I just want to know if this is conlusive?

Hi juan_daniel,

My take on this is that you can certainly be sure that you don't have hiv. You cannot get hiv from someone who doesn't have hiv. You can rely on the tests that you and your partner took together.

4th generation tests beyond 4 weeks are very accurate. If you are still worried about it and cannot get it off your mind, just go ahead and have another test at 3 months. I am sure it will remain negative.

Take care, and not to worry.

May God bless

Hello everyone

They guy with who I slept that nigth took 2 Elisa fourth generation Tests; the first 2 days after exposure and the second 20 days after exposure. Both came negative.

I also took 2 Elisa fourth feneration Tests; the first 20 days after the encounter and the second 31 days after the encounter.

I don't know what are my odd knowing the above information, Can I rely in those duotests I've done 20 and 31 days after the counter, plus the 2 test that the guy took?
