Condom break with CSW

Condom break with CSW

Hi Docs,
It's been three months since my last exposure, and 2 months since I last posted for your advice.
Please allow me to re-cap my incident, so 14 weeks ago I had protected sex with a CSW in China, and the condom broke.  I had about 5-10 seconds of unprotected due to the break.  3 weeks post exposure I did a serious of blood test, including HIV ELISA.  Everything was negative.  I also found some "weird" looking lesions, but they proved to be nothing over time.

I have kind of forgotten about the incident, but now my doctor recommends me to get a 3 month test for HIV.
I know around these forums, there's the circulation of 1/2,000 chance of infection per single exposure, along with my brief duration of contact, and the 1% assumption that the CSW has HIV.

I just did my 3 month HIV test today, and I am still a bit paranoid about it.  Would you really recommend this incident to be nothing but a tiny mishap?

note* I personally am 'friends' with the CSW, and she claims to be clean, yet has never been tested before.

Welcome back to the Forum. this response will be brief as you have recapped the facts quite well.  Your risk of infection to start with, before any testing was tiny and at 3 weeks the HIV antibody tests would be expected to detect the majority (probably over 75%) of recently acquired infection.  Your doctor is following the recommendations in order to be completely sure that you did not get HIV.  I am confident that your 3 month test will be negative.  At that time it will be time to put this entire business completely behind you.  Take care.  EWH

Once more, there's no symptoms or discomfort over this past three months, except for my current two tiny mouth sores!  Should I be worried?!

Thanks!

Hi Doctor Hook,

The 3 month test came back negative. I believe it to be conclusive.
Thanks for your work here.

By the way, out of curiosity, how many patients actually are found to be HIV positive after posting here? It seems as if the "single exposure" chances are too low for anyone to be actually tested positive..

Anyway,
Best regards!

You are correct, we have not seen many and perhaps no infections among our clients following single exposures. Since we began answering questions, there may have been one client who acquired HIV from an single exposure.  The circumstances surrounding that case make both of us doubtful that it occurred however.  EWH
