as my only risk..I keep on relying for more infofrom 2 websites this site and "the body forum". Fom that not site the doctor is keep on telling that oral sex
is not no risk but low risk. At the same the are some who wrote on that forum that they acquired it only through oral. I just confuse. I hope you will be able to solve this conflicting issue. By the way is that true that no nedd for testing for oral sex
only. ppl will lie about their exposures to protect themselves and their loved ones...(kind of embarassing for a so called straight married man to admit he had ANAL SEX
with another MAN to his wife...in his mind, the oral sex is not as bad).
THIS forum has no control on what is posted on other sites. below are some quotes from the doctors here:
"And oral sex is basically safe sex -- completely safe with respect to HIV and although not zero risk for other STDs, the chance of infection is far lower than for unprotected vaginal or anal sex. Please educate yourself about the real risks. If you stick with oral sex and condom-protected vaginal or anal sex, you have no HIV worries and very little worry about other STDs. " DR HANSFIELD
"I am sure you can find lots of people who belive that HIV is transmitted by oral sex, but you will not find scientific data to support this unrealistic concern..." DR HOOK
"HIV is not spread by touching, masturbation, oral sex or condom protected sex."- DR. HOOK
oral sex has been PROVEN not to transmit hiv...testing is NOT needed. there are thousands of posts on this forum regarding oral sex...please read them so as we do not have to keep repeating ourselves. there is nothing further to add to this post.
i think lizzie right in what she states people would lie even im thinking of lying when i go for my test as i find it more embarrasing trying to explain to someone what my incident was also feeled ashamed of it
Thank you for immediate response, One more thing is that makes me worry also is last june 2009 I was engaged in oral sex only (mouth to penis) no ejaculation maybe precum for 2 different guys. I dont have symptoms as what i observe personally because im health conscious and keep observing my body but now I obsrved that my tongue is white so i visited a dentistto check. She told me that It just normal but she found thin(small white coat) near my tonsil and she said it is an thrush I am doubt because its not painful or i dont feel something in my tonsil but she gave me oral gel that cure it. And as what I read Oral thrush is an indication of hiv, because there is nothing that I am thinking I acquired oral thrush. I am paranoid that I have acquired HIV which i pray NOT. Is there a reason for me to worry ,in that case do I need to test to make an assurance or just ignore it. I keep on believing that Oral Sex is safe sex but I cannot control myself to ba afraid also.
I hope you can help with this

There is no debate (among experts) about the HIV risks associated with oral sex. The risk is so low that almost nobody who cares for HIV infected patients has ever had a patient believed to have been infected that way. Among experts, it's a semantic issue about using terms like "no risk" and "very low risk". There is no difference between my or Dr. Hook's use of "low risk" and other experts' "no risk".

For starters, you do not know that your partner had HIV. Chances are he did not.
Even if he did, the quoted figure for HIV risk, if one has oral sex with an infected partner is less than 1 in 10,000 and, in my estimation that is too high. Some experts state there is no risk at all from oral sex. Neither of us on this site have ever seen or reading the medical literature of a convincing instance in which HIV was passed by oral sex. You have no reason to worry. EWH
