I. There are two type of viral load test
1) PCR RNA 2) PCR DNA
Both of them are very sensitive and they directly look for the virus in the body, thus if it was undectable for you that means you dont have the HI virus in your body.
II. Antibody tests look for the immune response to the infection, a test taken at the 3 months means conclusive, one does not have HIV and a test at the 6 months rules out HIV by the best possible standards. You tested negative at the 6th month that means no HIV for you
III. Undectable PCR and Negative antibody at the 6th month = 100 % NO HIV.
NATs looks directly for the virus, (rules out your concern for the presence / absence of antibodies)
Antibodies at the 6 months mark is better than gold standard, absolutely fool proof !
Buddy, you don't have HIV, I think you should deal with your anxiety.
I have read that some people never produce antibodies and also read that if you feel that you may have hiv and it is not showing up on tests, then there are other test that you can take to try and track it ( there are different strands that may be undetectable in regular tests). Also, the girl that I was sexually involved with was from russia and maybe there might be an hiv strand that is not detectable is todays test's. PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS EVERYONE SO THAT I CAN PUT IT TO REST OR GET ANOTHER TEST!!
Why are there so many different kinds of viral load tests if they all look for the same thing. I was thinking that the reason my viral load test came back negative is because I just took a random viral load test that look for that particular viras. If not then why dont they give you viral load tests and skip antibody tests. I heard that the antibody tests looks to find what strand that you have. If you took a viral load tests that looks for a viras strand that you dont have it will come back negative. Is all of this true...thank you for your quick responses!!!!!!::::::)
Platinum, deal with your anxiety, HIV is not your problem !
NAT test (viral load) and an Antibody at the 6 months mark definitely means NO HIV
