Contradiction about finger to semen or vaginal fluid contact

by karanahuja1982, Nov 06, 2009 05:47AM
I came across this site about Understanding and Preventing AIDS: A Book for Everyone by Chris Jennings [http://www.aproposinc.com/hap/prevent.htm] which has really disturbed me

it says that
"Semen is a potentially contaminated substance. If contaminated, it is highly infectious. Neither semen nor pre-ejaculate fluid should come into contact with mucous membrane surfaces. Ideally, semen should not come into contact with a person's hands either, since MICROSCOPIC LESIONS (wounds) often exist in the vicinity of the fingernail CUTICLES. Ideally, latex gloves should be worn to PREVENT HANT TO SEMEN contact. "

My questions are:-
1. Do you think is that true that finger cuticles have MICROSCOPIC LESIONS which can allow HIV to transmit from area around finger cuticles in case of hand to semen or vaginal secrtetions contact?
2. Do you think this person is reliable enough to believe as this guy suggest to wear hand gloves to avoid hand to bodily fluid contacts...if its true then fingering should not be considered low risk activity...however the general belief is that hiv can transmit through hand or finger if you have open wound or cut?

I m an ardent fan of yours so,plz answer..it will be good addition to the archives...!!

That book was published in 1988 and was last revised in 1993. Obviously much has been learned since then.
