Could I catch HIV this way?

Hi the Team,

Thanks for the forum and its usefulness. I am very lucky to find this forum.

Could you assess my risk of HIV infection? Yesterday, when I was playing soccer, I accidentally stepped on a nail and my toe bled a bit. When the match was over, I told this incident to the team, and two or three play mate also stepped on that nail.

I am afraid that if some one, assuming that he was poz, also stepped on that nail and made his toes bleed, and I stepped on the same nail, if this happened, could I catch HIV from stepping the nail with blood on it?

One thing i want to add was we was playing in the daylight, and it was hot and sunshiny. May be this can affect or kill off HIV, right?

Thanks a lot for your time.

once hiv is exposed to air it is rendered inactive and incapable of infecting.

hiv is NOT transmitted through environmental surfaces or inanimate objects.

NO RISK

Hi LIZZIE LOU,

You are one of the most prestigious here and I follow what you told me, of course!

That nail was small, and as I told above, just two or three play mate stepped on the nail, i did not know whethe we stepped on the same nail or not, but assuming that we stepped on a nail.

HIV is not alive outside its host, did you mean the open environment, daylight and sunshine?

Could this additional info change something?
