Could I have HIV?

I had unsafe sex. About a month later, my wbc count went from 4.5 to 1.5 in two weeks. It has increased a little over 2.9 since. If I had HIV, would it be impossible for the white-blood-count to go up? I have an appointment for an STD test soon, but I am pondering this question as I sleep. Advice is graciously appreciated

WBC counts do not indicate HIV infection or suggest an HIV infection. A dramatic increase or decrease does not matter- it does not tell you anything about HIV infection. The ONLY way to know your status is to be tested at 3 months post exposure. Do your best not to worry and try to relax. If it has been over a month already since your unsafe sex, you could opt to get a DUO test. The doctors on this forum both agree a negative DUO test at 4 weeks is "proof positive" you were not infected. However, on this forum, a follow up 3 month test is needed for a CONCLUSIVE result. I wish you the best of luck.

There are no tests that will give a conclusive test result earlier than 3 months post exposure.
