, I didn't seem to have much energy, I was dizzy, and worst of all, I was having shortness of breathe. Everything seemed to get better a couple of weeks after I had sex, but I was still having shortness of breathe. This began to worry me so I did my research this afternoon. The symptoms I had exactly matched the symptoms of HIV. At this point, I am tripping out... I can't sleep, I'm doing my papers half ***, and barely focusing on anything else besides this situation. I am gonna go get tested tomorrow, but I seriously hope this is all a coincidence... : /... btw I am NOT ******* around.
your symptoms are NOT indicative of early hiv infection (ARS). sounds like anxiety!
the odds that you had sex with someone who has hiv are pretty low and even if she did...it is NOT automatic infection. it is much more difficult for a man to contract hiv from a woman that vice versa.
you can do a test at 6-8 weeks to get a good indication of your status...but follow that up with a test at 3 months for a conclusive result.
You seem to know alot about HIV. Please help me. I had unprotected sex with a woman for a few minutes. It was brief. I was not pushing for it and neither was she. But the next thing I knew, she was on top of me. It was quick and easy (no pushing or big friction, very wet). Two weeks later, I got a sore throat on one side for a day and it then went to the other side of my throat and then my lymph node got swollen for three days. Then it went away. The woman was from Canada. I don't know her. I've been marrried for 17 years and have never cheated on my wife. I'm scared to death. I love my wife to death. I took a test and am waiting for results. I plan to test again at 6, 8 and 12 weeks.
How at risk am I? Can you tell me anything. Please and thanks.
I know how it feels but perhaps this is a very good lesson to use condom every time.
Like what Lizzie Lou had said it is very unlikely (but real) that a woman would transmit HIV virus to man.
By the way are you circumsized? It reduces the chance of contracting HIV too (it has been proven).
Your symptoms is too general. HIV (in most cases) causes people to have fever from 38-40 degree Celsius. For the lymph nodes, it usually takes weeks for it to clear off and some would still be swollen even after weeks if you do have HIV.
Whatever discuss here is only a general cases. So testing is the only way to know.
Let us know the result.
Good luck and pull yourself off the stress.
My lymph node is only slightly swollwn today after 4 days. It is not sore at all and my throat is good. Otherwise, I feel good. I recently saw somethong in this forum that said a six week test is 75% accurrate, a 6 week test is 99% accurrate and a 12 week test is 100%. Is this true?
The majority of people who have actually been infected willl seroconvert and test positive by six weeks, with the average time to seroconversion being only 22 days. The window period for hiv testing is three months.
Hey lesbin,
By six weeks of seroconversion will the patient be easily get the symptoms. If not when would the patient get the symptoms what is the %ge that a patient gets symptoms during seroconversion?
It is rude to hijack someone else's thread. Please follow the posting guidelines of this forum. You have now asked this same question in three threads. One is enough, especially since you did not have a risk to begin with. Your questions have been answered. Time to move on.
As it turns out, my test was ready today. At 3 weeks I am negative. I'll do it again at 6 weeks. I don't think I've ever shaken so much as when I made that call. I know this is a process.
Would it follow that the since the swollen lymph node and sore throat happened before the test, that they are not related to HIV? Would HIV have to be present and identifiable in order to have symptoms?
I understand that I'm not "out of the woods" yet
