Could something have pricked me

Hello today as I was leaving the gym I del a pinch in my left foot like a sting, after getting home I check es and didn't find a trace of blood, but had like a little border on the are of the foot, it was like excess skin or something, my question if I could have been pricked with a needle I didn't see, because I saw severas red stains on the pavement and sidewalk, could there have been something that infected me?
