Diarrhea?

I've read on some websites that diarrhea can only be considered a symptom of HIV if it lasts for several months. My question is:

1) Is this true?
2) Does it have to be non-stop diarrhea for several months? Or could it be loose stools for 2-3 days, followed by two weeks of normal activity?

You never had an exposure.

HIV is unable to reproduce outside its living host (unlike many bacteria or fungi, which may do so under suitable conditions), except under laboratory conditions; therefore, it does not spread or maintain infectiousness outside its host.

HIV is transmitted by;
Unprotected penetrative anal and/or vaginal sex
Sharing works with other IV drug users
Mother to child
