Do doctors treat for HIV without your knowledge of having it?

Ok, I'm a healthy white female who had regular unprotected sex with the same person (who reassured me over and over he is negative) since last october.  The last time was on February 3rd.  On february 16th I had fatigue, coughing, runny nose, and was diagnosed with a sinus infection.  I was given antibiotics for it and I thought it went away.  This past weekend it returned, this time with swollen glands!!  The doctor took blood and did a throat culture, in case I had strep or mono.  Neither was present.  BUT he gave me a different antibiotic for the sinus infection called Biaxin, for acute sinusitis, which has been working wonders after one day on it.  But I just read that Biaxin is given to HIV/AIDS patients for Mycobacterium avium complex!!!!  Is it possible that he did an HIV test without my knowledge and is now trying to treat me for it????  Im scared and don't want to call and find out because he might think I'm nuts, or say no.  But does this happen?  Do doctors do HIV testing without your consent?  And then give you medicine for it without you knowing??  And is the fact that my sinus infection returned with swollen glands a sign that my immune system is dying and that I have HIV?  Please help

Just reading the title - you can not be tested without consent, so no Doctor would know if you had HIV unless you gave consent for them to test you for it. If you didn't Doctors won't be treating you for it..

Nothing any of us can do to help you with if you don't want to test.  We can't take your test for you.

Ok, so my glands have gone down completely and my sinus infection is gone, but I'm still finishing my antibiotics.  I'm still scared though but dont want a test.

I'm glad you realize you are sounding really paranoid. Your doctor would not be treating you for HIV without letting you know that you had HIV. Your doctor would not treat you for anything without telling you specifically what they were treating you for. Your fear is very irrational. The antibiotic is targetted towards the bacteria, irrespective of your HIV status.
