Doctor denied me PEP despite high risk*

I'm a female and had an unwanted encounter with a bi sexual man Nov 25th. Unwanted because he removed condom despite my telling him no several times, he penetrated me without condom for 3 minutes which I was held down. He finally stopped to put on condom and ejaculated but remained inside for several minutes. The only test he has taken was an HIV at home test October 7th 4 months after an unprotected encounter with a male which he was bottom . It was negative and so was my test . My only other unprotected encounter was last December which I was put on pep by an HIV specialist and tested negative. I called the same doctor after what happened but he denied pep saying he couldn't keep doing this every time and impossible to see me 1 day before re thanksgiving. ER was also NO help?!!  Not only am I scared I have HIV but my own doctor refuses to help me . What should I do? I'm no longer in contact with the perpetrator.

thank you ! its a very hard lesson to learn but you're right i was aware and let my personal feelings get in the way of making the right decision. Only thing I can do is stay busy and test in 4 weeks like you said.

I wouldn't necessarily call this a "high risk" exposure, but of course testing is warranted.

The doctor is well within his rights to refuse to prescribe nPEP.  Many doctors reserve nPEP for encounters with KNOWN + partners only.  You could have sought out another health care provider, that really was your only choice, if you wanted to pursue the nPEP.

While that is always a personal choice, I agree that nPEP sounds like overkill in your situation.  Everything is pretty much working in your favor.  Take a DUO test at 4 weeks, for a conclusive result.

In the future, you may want to be a little more choosy about your sexual partners, as it sounds like you were well aware of this guy's sloppy habits.

Stay busy, keep your mind off of this.  I bet you'll be just fine.

Same answer applies. Im not going to get into the legal implications of his actions or what he does or does not like.

4th gen test at 4 weeks is the only way to be sure.

I had just had a D&C 12 days prior which involves dilation of cervix  and scraping of uterine lining plus 2 endometrial polyps removed and still spotting . That was not his last encounter. I don't know how many since , he hates wearing condoms .

If his last encouner was with that bottom and the test was done 4 months after this then that is reassureing. Although there risk is there, I see it unlikely that you would have caught HIV. However, the only thing to do is wait 4 weeks and get a 4th gen test.

In your favour you have...

Not a long time inside you
did not ejaculate inside of you
you did not mention cuts or blood
His result last time
