Ear Piercing Risk

I got my ears pierced at Claries and what they used on me was an ear piercing gun and a starter earring stud. (which is when the earring is forced into the ear)

I made sure to watch that the starter earring stud was new and opened in front of me, and they did take out some wipes that came with the set but i failed to notice how throughly it was cleaned.  My issue is that i was unaware there was a risk for hiv when getting your ears pierced.
My question is how high is my risk based on this experiece?

thank you

wow , thank you for your speedy response.
i think i may be able to let all my delusions go...

and im guessing from your response you would agree that testing would be both a waste of time and money even if some aids prevention/websites say that tattoos/piercings hold a risk for hiv ?

You mentioned tattoos and piercings in your post on the other board. That's a different story. Body piercings are done with needles, then the jewelry is pushed/pulled through the piercing. The needles are autoclaved--these studios are as clean as any medical office--but there's still supposedly a theoretical risk. But no one has been infected by any piercing, certainly not with a piercing gun. You are totally tripping over nothing. You might benefit from a few sessions with a counselor to discuss your fears.

Alright the ease of mind i was looking for did not come so quickly so i just had a few additional questions that i would appreciate you answering for me.

a) why is this no risk?- i want to believe the no risk factor yet i dont understand why websites and various other places would say that there is a risk

Im sorry for the persistent questions but i cant seem to get it out of my mind and i just want to try to understand exactly why there is no reason that i should be worrying.

Thank you!!!
