Earliest Most accurate HIV test?

by Worriedorjustparanoia, Nov 07, 2009 08:53AM
I am a female who had unprotected sex 35 days ago (5 wks ago). I tested 10 days after my encounter  (please see my earlier post "risk of HIV when HSV 2 positive" for more details) so I know that's probably to early to detect anything. I'm very nervous and would like to know what kind of HIV test will provide the earliest accurate detection? The thought of having to wait 3 mos. Or 6mos for results is causing me extreme anxiety! Please help. Also,  if you could try to figure out what my odds of contracting it are based on the info I provided in my previous post  "risk of HIV when HSV 2 positive" that would be appreciaited. Thanks.

A NEGATIVE result on an Antibody Assay @ 6 weeks offers a "good indication" of your HIV status. If NEGATIVE at this time, it is "HIGHLY UNLIKELY" to change. To be determined CONCLUSIVE, you must retest @ 3 months.

"trad" is supposed to say "read" ... That was a typo. Sorry.
