Elisa Test After 40 days of possible exposure

Elisa Test After 40 days of possible exposure

If you received a negitive result after being tested 40 days from a possible exposre using the Elisa test how accurate do you feel the test would be at that time. My girlfriend has told me that she was tested a year ago and was negitive. She has also told me that she has not been in any other sexual relationships that she felt would have put her at risk since that time. I had an hiv test done through my Dr.s office after she and I had unprotected sex around 40 days later. The results were negitive, but the Dr said he would like for me to wait around 3 more months and test again. How safe should I feel at this point with my 40 day negitive result.

40 days is a decent indication but by no means conclusive. 3 months is conclusive. So you don't have to wait 3 more month just 3 months in total from the exposure.
