Elisa test related question

Hello,

Due to companies requirement I under went Elisa test for HIV few days back.
H.I.V 1 and 2  0.30IU/mL was the result.
I consulted a doctor he said the result is negative however this test is for Antibodies, some antibodies has been detected in my blood which is generated to fight HIV virus.
I am married I never had sex anyone other than my husband, never shared needle nor I am drug user.
My husbands test result is negative too.
How accurate is Elisa test? does food influence the test results?
Should I go for WB test?
I am really shattered to hear that some antibodies has been detected in my blood which is generated to fight HIV virus.
Also does Elisa test detects other antibodies which is not related to HIV antibodies?

Kindly suggest
Thanks in Advance

Your test result has a value duo to the chemistry of it and not due to the amount of detection.
Any test value below a specific limit is a true negative.

If you weren't exposed within the window period then this result is conclusive

Hi,
For starters, Hiv can only be transmitted through :
-unprotected vaginal or/and anal penetration
-from mother to child
-by sharing drug works

Now about your test: elisa test is an extremely accurate test. Its window period is 3 months after the last exposure. A negative result, which is given by taking this test 3 months after an exposure, is fully conclusive.

Stay safe

The elisa is extremely accurate and both you and your husband had negative results therefore neither of you has HIV and there is no need for a WB.
