Elisa testing

Hi,

probably more for setting my mind at peace than anything else but I will take a HIV test next week.
The lab where I am seems to mention "HIV1/2 Elisa ... results".
Can anyone tell me whether Elisa "tests" include a AB and AG tests or is it single AB test ?

You might tell me 'ask the lab' but I am not in Europe nor in the US and I am not too sure that the nurse actually knows all about the biological part of the testing. And I would like to avoid to turn the whole lab upside down to find out ... ;-)

Your feedback is welcome !

this post is 11 HOURS old.  during that time you could have called the lab and asked one simple question..."will you tell me what generation elisa test for hiv that you do?"

c'mon...you are wasting now only our time but yours as well.

Thanks Lizzie.

Teak, Lizzie,

despite of Lizzy's answer above I believe I have not made myself clear.

As far as understood, 'ELISA' is a testing method also used for other diseases.
In the case of a HIV Elisa testing how could I figure whether it is a last gen detecting AB + AG or a gen before only detecting AB ?

Any idea ? Is the 4th gen Elisa really common nowadays worldwide ?

Just want to avoid as said above to rumble the whole lab to find out ....
Of course if it is the only way I'll ask but perhaps Teak has an idea on this ?

Many thanks !!!

Did not ask about accuracy but about the the test included within the Elisa 'package'.
AB or AB+AG.
