If you believe you have been exposed to HIV and want help to judge your risk, would like advice about HIV testing, or have questions about the effectiveness of condoms or risks associated with specific sexual practices, this is the site for you.
On a recent trip to Atlanta I was crossing the street when a mentally ill male spit in my faceFace pain. I was wearing my glasses thank goodness but I may have been exposed to a minute amount of saliva into my eye. The man was apprehended by police who later told me that the man stated he was HIV positive. Although I did wash my eye within 5 minutes of exposure, had my rinsed with 2 quarts of salineSaline laxative Transvaginal ultrasound solution within 20 minutes of exposure, and again rinsed out my eye in the shower an hour after exposure, I still can't help but be worried. I looked online and read a few medical journals regarding this type of transmission and read up on proteins in the saliva in relation to HIV. Although transmission is rare I am still worried. Since this happened almost 7 days ago how do I go about getting anti viral medication? The police officer says that the man's HIV status is technically hear say and that I can only get his medical records through a warrant. What is the fastest way to acquire anti viral medication? What if I am denied medication? Will antiviral medication not be so effectiveEffective strength cough syrup since it is almost 7 days later? Should I be more worried about other diseases such as hepatitis?
Basing from this account given, you are not in any risk for HIV.
I can't answer a lot of your questions because I do not where you are. I don't think "anti viral medication" is required for your incident.
