testing. Is this true??? Actually thought comes in my mind and make me worried that how can a doctor can give such wrong information??? BUT these doctors were family
issues like HIV window period. HIV window period thing will not be taught to them in medicine??? means this is very basic that 6 months is the maximum when he says 6 months is average?? Please be clear, I am really worried because if a normal person would have said, I would have not worried but doctor said this that makes me worried as I think can doctors also give wrong information??? ARE THERE INSTANCES WHEN DOCTORS GAVE WRONG INFORMATION??
Look, most doctors NEVER deal with HIV, unless they are specializing in HIV. HIV is a fairly rare condition in most of the US. Therefore, average doctor knows very little about HIV, just a few random tidbits they learned back in med school. An HIV specialist gives a more reliable info on HIV than a regular doc.
Regularjoey is exactly right. The average time is not 6 months, it is 25-30 days. Most doctors who specialize in HIV will tell you antibodies can appear anytime between 2 and 8 weeks and only very very very very rarely can it take more than 3 months (in ppl with previously compromised immune systems). You would know if your immune system was compromised already - chemotherapy, organ transplant, or very serious injury sustained in some kind of accident. Otherwise, 3 months is more than enough time.
allsigns say immuno compromised people, if a person was treated for Hepititis (hepatitis) A 10 years ago and a small head injury after I was born but now physically very well so a person was treated for Hep. A 10 years ago and a small head injury so does that will make him immuno compromised for ever OR immuno compromised only in case of chemotherapy, organ transplant, or very serious injury sustained in some kind of accident presently going on.
Means a general doctor can give wrong information about HIV? Because this window period is always coming in my mind , even HIV expert told me that general doctor is wrong about window period. But just coming in my mind that how a doctor can give such wrong information?? HIV expert also told me that don't believe him. So I shouldn't have any reason to believe this general doctor?? YOU know one amazing thing that he(general doctor) said CDC and HIV experts don’t know much about HIV(they are misinformed about HIV)???What do you say???
you are just coming up with stuff inyour mind! You've been told why there would be a discrepancy in the saying of a window period. Most doctors learn what they learn when in school and then pending on the field they go into is what they stay up to date on. So a optometrist isn't going to be up to date on gynocology, a gynocologist isn't going to up to date on proctology. A general physician isn't going to be an expert on HIV. So listen only to what an HIV (Infectious Disease Doctor) specialist says.
