Fear, Guilt, Anxiety and Brief Oral

First of all, thanks for your time and providing a resource for people like me to ask questions.

I received a massage recently. Towards the conclusion of the massage, the therapist began giving me a hand job. I was laying back and had my eyes closed. I then opened my eyes and her head was close to my groin and I thought she had quickly put her mouth on the tip of my penis. I immediately ask her to stop and asked if she had in fact put her mouth on me. She said no and that she was just mimicking oral sex to get me more excited. If she actually did put her mouth on my penis is was extremely brief (a few seconds at best) and I didn’t notice any cuts or blood either on my penis or her mouth.

At this point, I am very confused and fear, guilt and anxiety and eating me alive.

5 days later, I got a slight headache, sore throat, general fatigue and an upset stomach, 10 days later the I have a slight fever, a few aches and pains, sore throat is worse and I have yellow mucous when I blow my nose.

What are my chances or contracting HIV from this activity if she did in fact put her mouth briefly on my penis?

Also, I have read that the chances of oral sex transmission, during full oral sex is 1 in 10,000. Does this mean with extenuating circumstances (i.e. blood in the mouth?)or that the tranmission can in fact occur just through saliva to Urethra?

I can't heop with the fear, guilt, anxiety part--except to reassureyou about the risks associated with "brief oral".  Your risk of acquiring HIV was truly zero from the non-exposure event you describe.

The 1 in 10,000 risk you site for transmission risk by receiving fellatio.  It's probably lower; indeed to my knowledge no case of HIV infection has ever been proved to occur that way.  To the extent that bleeding in the mouth is common (e.g., gum disease), that statistic takes blood into account. Infectious HIV doesn't appear in saliva at all, at least not at levels high enough to transmit infection. And even the 1 in 10,000 estimate generally refers to prolonged (several minutes) fellatio ending in ejaculation.

So the brief touch you describe is meaningless as an HIV/STD transmisison risk.  Therefore, your symptoms cannot be due to HIV, unless you had some other exposure you don't describe--and they don't sound much like HIV anyway.  You do not need testing for HIV or STD.

Do severe seasonal allergies cause problems for tests in any circumstance?  Could that be a cause for a false negative.  I had a false neg after brief unprotected man man sex as "top". Brief like 1 minute of 1 inch penetration.  Tested neg at 3 month range.  should i take six month so i can stop wearing these darn condoms with my partner :)?? thanks.

Already covered a lot; search for "HIV diagnosis".  Virtually no medical condition or drug affects the accuracy of HIV testing.

M.D.-HHH, thanks for the feedback. Her mouth briefly on my penis was the only exposure I had other than her hand on my penis and her masturbating me which I know is not a risk factor. I didnt mention earlier that I had a slight cough but I assume that your thoughts on the "no risk" trumps that?

Yes, "no risk" trumps symptoms.  Risk assessment ALWAYS trumps symptoms.  Anyway, "slight cough" is not a symptom that suggests HIV.

A negative 3 month Oraquick test is 100% reliable regardless of symptoms. You don't need to thread jump to learn that; just search the threads and you'll see I have said that many, many times.  Also, it is not true this is the "only intelligent outlet for my questions".  The primary source or that kind of information should be the provider who tested you, or perhaps your local health department--not this or any other website.

Sorry for the last question. I didnt mentioned earlier but didnt think of this until now. The tip of my penis was a bit irritated at the time that this incident occured (no bleeding or open wound....just irritated, I have prostatitis and this happens every so often)

Would this change your thoughts. Based on what I have read from your posts, your feedback would be the same but I wanted to ask never-the-less.

Of course that doesn't change in my opinon!  See my original reply, which all by itself made it clear that you could not have acquired HIV from the exposure you describe.  Go to the mirror, look yourself in the eye and repeat out loud 10 times "I do not have HIV and could not have caught HIV during my massage".

I'm holding you to your promise; no more follow-up comments/questions.
