A risk is a risk and if you want to know your status you test.
Thank you for your comments. I am so nervous that I cant think well. I found an article online that says that the risk of female to male is eight times less than male to female. Also that it is very rare and that the reason for transmission is if you have an open wound. None of this is my case, because I had no wounds and she had very little fluids (as I can remember). Can anyone comment on this? Is this just a myth or is it true that the female to male transmission is less than 1%? Thanks for the help guys
What I,m aware of is that when engaged in unprotected penetrative vaginal sex,The female has a higher risk of hiv transmission than the male.
I do believe that this has never been studied to come up with stats or %...would you do that trial if you were asked?
Not every exposure leads to infection, its a risk having unprotected sex high or low...
We don't use number here.
Test 3 months post exposure. It is a risk.
I was looking online at several articles and othr posts in this forum. Some say the risk of female to male transmission is 0.005, other say that is almost 1%. Which one is right? Everybody says that female to male transmission through vaginal sex is a very low risk, some say almost impossible if you have no cuts or sore areas in your penis. Is this true? Is the risk so low it does not worth being this scared?
Only a test result at 3 months post-exposure is going to provide you with the answers you seek.Any unprotected penetrative vaginal or anal sex is a risk of hiv transmission.Statistics and numbers don,t mean anything.
But how low? Like so low not to worry about it, or enough to worry? Im sorry for asking, but I am real worried and the information I find online is ver confusing and contradictory. It seems that female to male transmission is rare, but is it very rare? Should I be worried?
The HIV risk was low, but might be there. But you'll need to get yourself checked at 3 months post-exposure for a conclusive negative result and do it only once so as not to waste your money.
