Got GHSV2 from protected sex. What's the HIV risk?

I just got back from the Philippines where I had PROTECTED sex (oral and vaginal - the condom didn't break or slip off) with a prostitute in a high-end brothel. Unfortunately I got genital herpes from her (haven't ever had sex with anyone else). Apparently condoms don't offer protection from herpes when the infected areas aren't covered. I'm going to get tested for HIV too, but I'd like to know beforehand how much HSV transmission increases the risk of simultaneous HIV transmission in PROTECTED sex and how high the resulting HIV risk is? Aren't the modes of transmission of the two somewhat different (especially with proper condom use)?

Ok, I'm guessing I can take that as a "No" in my case?

Latex condoms, when used consistently and correctly, are highly effective in
preventing transmission of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. In addition, correct
and consistent use of latex condoms can reduce the risk of other sexually
transmitted diseases (STDs), including discharge and genital ulcer diseases.
While the effect of condoms in preventing human papilloma virus (HPV) infection
is unknown, condom use has been associated with a lower rate of cervical
cancer, an HPV-associated disease. Laboratory studies have demonstrated that latex condoms provide an essentially impermeable barrier to particles the size of STD pathogens.

Thanks Teak, I was just concerned that HIV could have taken the same path as the genital herpes

You didn't have a risk of contracting HIV. The only time HIV is increased is when one has had STDs and were never treated.
