Guys. A Timeline. I didnt make it up.

Tags: negative, test
Day 1: Jan 25, 2007. Exposure. The details see post 888
Day 2: Flu (I believe it is flu)
Day 6 or 7: Developed joint pain
Day 8: Crazy and went to doc and test HIV neg
Day 10: Fever 37.5 nightsweat
Day 11: nightsweat
Day 12: nightsweat
Day 14 (Feb 8): diarrhea at noon and went to doc immediately, ini. pos. hopefully false according to your comments

------------------
The schedule i posted means the percentage of accurate HIV test. E.g. 25% of HIV can be tested positive at 7 days after exposure, 50% of HIV positive can be tested at 14 days, so on and so forth.

------------------
I tested two types: HIV and standard blood test. Standard blood test (for common infection other than HIV) came back normal.

------------------
I did not conceal anything. If I am confirmed, it should be because that I have wounds that I cannot see on my penis - I masturbate 4 times in the 4 days prior to the exposure.

Your symptoms came on to quick to be related to HIV. You don't get symptoms the day after an exposure nor a week. When the body begins to seroconvert is when you develop symptoms if you develop them at all and that is the 2-4 weeks post exposure.

If you wanted to eventually "start" the window testing, it would be ideal to get tested starting @  4 weeks.
(If you are that concerned).
Testing for antibodies prior to 4 weeks is wasteless...to be honest.
And yes, as he stated above, symptoms, though not indicative of HIV, would be @ onset of 2-4 weeks, not as early as you state.

Thanks. Thanks. It gives me hope. Thanks it gives me hope.

God tried his best to scare me ...

Yes I would not start testing until 4 wks and then out. Also those symptoms came on way to quick to be assocated with ars. those symptoms typically occur between week 2 and 4 but not after day one, it was too early. Goodluck

HI HI HI!!! I am NEGATIVE!!! HO HO HO!

Although it is only 14-day test, it is like I jumped out of the hell.  I have so many symptoms and a pos ini test!

Follow up question - does it rule out some of the symptoms or it is just a matter of time when antibody will develop?

I mean, since so many symtoms appear, if they result from HIV then they result from seroconvert, and thus antibody must have already generated, thus testing must show positive.  Since testing negative, am I right to think that at least some early symptoms are irrelevant?

I heard that if you have fever that is caused by HIV, test should be able to show antibodies....

I am not playing!!!!!!
Brother. I am stressed. 2 week neg is nothing but 2 week pos is everything!!!!!!!!!!!

Bless everybody here. I may be ignorant - the doctors are ignorant, too.  There aren't many HIV experts in China. I went to see doctor twice, and get different advises.  They heard my story and told me: there is risk! One told me that you may have cancer rather than HIV. One said that ARS may occur from day 6. One said your symtoms are too early. One said that if this is ARS, your result should be positive by now. .... They scared me. Only ppl here keep reassuring me.

Thank you buddies. I hope I will turn out negative - the sex worker is positive!! I am sooo scared.

I plan to take 28 day test now. - Is there any reason for a quick retest? Since the false pos I am so scared of testing, and at the same time so scared of not testing. ... What should I do?

IF you had a false positive, the doctor would have already conducted a follow-up test AND possibly outlined future tests (e.g., if PCR/RNA was positive but ELISA was still negative). The doctor would NOT leave you on your own to decide whether/when to test. Even in China.

Consequently, I still get the distinct impression that you have NOT been tested at all since your negative test on day 8.

Your exposure was zero risk, and your symptoms occurred to soon to be HIV related, regardless of infection route. HIV simply requires more time to establish infection (replicate) and cause symptoms.

If you haven't already, get a simple HIV antibody test as a baseline. If you are HIV+, it is not from that encounter. You'll need testing through 13 weeks (3 months) for a definitive result (according to current US CDC guidelines), although you can rely on a 6-week result based on your exposure.

by ainxtein, Feb 09, 2007 12:00AM
The negtive IS a follow up test. There is no PCR test in China for supect HIV infected.

by ainxtein, Feb 09, 2007 12:00AM
Anyway. The doc asked me to come 1 month later. I am thinking 4 week test. That is it.

Thanks everybody.  Even though you are arguing and suspecting, I sincerely hope that you finally win - since your position is what I am HOPING and PREYING FOR. Thank you for the strong reassurance. I feel much much much better now. :)

you must realized something, even though this a patient to patient forum, you must realize that every letter, every word you type when you post a comment, are being read and reread probably more than we read articles on playboy ;), you mentioned yesterday that in china pills are not readily available like in the us, then you go and mention many hiv experts there. but anyway, ill try giving you the benefit of the doubt, remember you were protected even if shes pos. i agree though, for real piece oc mind, have an hiv test at 3 mos.  good luck.

Yes. I know. And the ONLY thing I can have 'made up' is the false positive.  I understand the pressure of the ppl here. This also would arouse anxiety in the forum (in Chinese forums, all posts like this will be met with partly liar, and partly sympathy).  I met three false positives and 1 true positive already in China. (One is three week positive, then retest negative, then four week positive, than retest positive, which is my concern - this guy is already famous).  Sorry if my English is not clear and generated doubt. But my timetable is correct. I may forgot something. Really. Please give me the benefit of doubt (if this means, with doubt, I am still entitled to helps). Please disregard the part talking about doctors/experts if that's nonsense to you (they generally explains why I am fearing so much, because they give conflict opinions. If they all like you, I may have far less fear now) Thanks.
