after my Hep B bloodwork came back as a non-responder (titers less than 10 mIU/ml). This was after an encounter with a CSW in China where HepB is endemic (around 25% of population i believe)
I have found that studies in 1989 have shown passive seroconversion in babies for HIV
test in 2 weeks time (28 days post exposure)?
What are the chances of an increased false positive?
Shall i let the HCW know i have had a HBIG shot prior to HIV
Protected Oral sex - 100% definitely
Protected Vaginal sex for 20-30 seconds - 80% - 90% sure this was protected.
Protected Oral sex at end - 100% definitely this was protected
The reason i am less sure with the actual sex is that she changed condoms for all of the sex acts and she put them on, not me.
My anxiety has caused a mental block for those 30 seconds or so, and no matter how much i try to think back to the event, I cannot conclusively remember.
However, other factors such as 'feeling that it was on' and remembering at the time that she had used 3 different condoms for 3 sex acts, and also the fact that if she took the bother to protect herself for oral sex, why the hell would she not for actual full penetrative sex is in my favour.
I am due to take a DUO test (p24 and antibody) in 2 weeks time (28 days) which is 99.89% accurate in normal circumstances. Will it have the same accuracy now?
I have read many of your posts, and whilst you are quick to throw diagnoses of 'no risk' you cannot truly be sure unless my exposure was with you, since you are from NC I seriously doubt this. In any case, i am sure you are right and my risk was extremely low to zero. I would rather test for my own peace of mind though.
With the greatest respect, if you read my post I am not asking about my potential risk, or my chances of HIV infection. I am asking if anyone has any medical or scientific knowledge about false positive results after HBIG shots manufactured in today's society.
