About five years ago I had oral and brief vaginal intercourse with a sex worker in Orange County, CA. This worker had a tongue piercing that did not have a tip and proceeded to perform oral sex on me for about 10 minutes. I did not think anything of it at the time.
After 10 minutes we engaged in intercourse but it only lasted 5-7 minutes. I did not reach orgasm.
About 3 weeks later, I noticed a horseshoe shaped raised sore appear on the skin covering the head of my penis (I was not circumsized at the time). This prompted me to get tested by my PC. He visually confirmed that the sore was herpes. I had a blood test soon thereafter and was negative for HIV.
Five years later, I am getting oral ulcers (small) occasionally and cold sores appear maybe 3-4 times a year. I was also recently diagnosed with Hypothyroidism.
My question is:
Are these signs of HIV appearing because my test was too soon after the contact?
