HIV 1
Guys,
I posted a question earlier but never got an answer so please help. I got tested in a clinic in Thailand at 39 days and the result was negative. However, as my exposure was with a woman of african origin I am worried that I did not take the right test. I am concerned that I may have been exposed to HIV 2 but only tested for HIV 1.
Does anyone know if HIV1 and HIV2 are routinely tested for together, or are the tests all the same? Is it likely that HIV 2 is tested for in thailand?

the answer is yes if you had a third or fourth generation test (Duo = antibody+antigen). those tests detect HIV 1 and HIV2 simultaneously.

Thanks so much guys.
I saw on a previous thread that thai testing procedures are quite up-to-date and that recently thailand was praised for its hiv stratagy generally, so I am assuming that the test was third or fourth gen.
I also read however that there is minimal incidence of hiv 2 in thailand and therefore it is not mandatory to test for it, thats what had me worried.
