HIV 1&2 antibody screening

Dear Doctor,

I am heavily infected with Hepatitis A.  I took an HIV antidody test the other day and it reported me as borderline reactive with the cutoff at 1.00 and my reading at 1.67.  I havent had any sex in 3 years now. I have only had unprotected sex 3 times with the same girl but that was a long time ago.  So even if I did get infected 3 years ago, could I still be borderline reactive? or am I showing borderline reactivity because of the strong hepatitis A virus that I have.  Please explain, I am worried.

There is not a borderline reading. Either you are infected or your not. HAV, will not alter your HIV test. What did they say when you took the test?

well, the only thing said on the report was that the cutoff is 1.00 and my level is at 1.67 and then it said borderline reactive.  It also asked for a retest in 6 weeks. didnt say whether i am infected or not.

They should have ran a confirmative test. You've went long enough and there was no need in waiting.
