HIV-2 Teak? mike_no?

by quintonmed, May 24, 2007 12:00AM
Does HIV2 get detected when you take an Ora Quick and ELISA test after 3 months? my exposure was protected vaginal sex for about 5-10 minutes with a CSW in Sub-Sahran Africa Jan 7 2007 She strectched the condom a little before I put it on but there were no visible holes.  I had a fever for about 12 hours 2 weeks later and four about 3 days prior had diaherrea and a sore throat that lasted 2 days and i think my nodes were swollen. Dr. HHH said the diaherrea and fever were most likely caused by food I ate because he says it is extremly common for that to happen. I tested negative for HIV after three months but for some reason i cant get over the fact that i might seroconvert after 6 months. And now i realized that i did not test for HIV-2 which is prevalent in Africa.  Do my symptoms sound like HIV-2?  Does Ora Quick and ELISA detect HIV-2? Does anyone know that stats of people who test HIV positive at six months after testing negative at 3 months?

Thanks

You didn't have a risk from the situation you described, but it also shows by testing that you have not been exposed. Keep using the condoms.
