Earlier ELISA were designed to detect Antibody. But 4th Gen/ ELISA can detect both Antibody and Antigen P24. They also quite good and bit more accurate than RAPID
YES, Thanks Really its nice.
What u think personally about window period reduction due to 4th GEN test?.
What is min and max window period for 4th gen. test in market?
A conclusive negative test is still 3 months. There are no tests maketed to give a conclusive negative result earlier than 3 months. Don't confuse the early detection with conclusive negative.
No a P24 is only good 1-3 weeks post infection and it is not a stand alone test to begin with. It has to be followed up with an antibody test. It doesn't matter if you were detected early or not. If you think that you might be infected you should be using condoms until you and your partner are confirmed negative. But then again if one was using condoms correctly and consistently they won't be needing testing. All in all it doesn't matter which test is used when it comes to treatment. No one that is recently infected will need to start HAART medications to begin with.
i agree with the p24 bit, but my doc told me that the duo looks for antibodies as well so at 3 mts it would be as good as any test for antibodies (hopefully)
