HIV Concern

by hhdeng, Nov 05, 2009 09:24PM
I did something really really really really stupid 2 months ago. (Sept 22, 2009)

I had an sexual encounter with a female on the 22nd of Sept. I'm not sure if she's a sex worker or not. She just seem like a loose girl.

I do not know how many other guys she has had encounters with in her past.

She engaged in UNPROTECTED ORAL SEX on me for maybe close to 1 minute span. I didn't see any signs of bleeding. She state she doesn't have any cuts or sores on either. Again I don't know how many other encounters she had giving unprotected oral sex to.

We then progress to PROTECTED intercourse sex. NO ANAL!! She states that she always use protection during intercourse.

She then took off my condom and use baby oil as lube to give me a handjob. She used her mouth and wrap around the head of my penis to prevent my semen from spreading all over the place.

I recall also that I sucked her tongue/wrap my lips around her tongue while we were having intercourse NOT AFTER I ejaculate in her mouth. I'm afraid that something could of been pass on from that which is why I'm scared because of this tightness around my throat I am getting. The doctor check my tonsils and they say they are fine.

I had a long restless, unhappy days for the whole month of October and September worrying with extreme amount of anxiety and stress. This was the first time I ever had unprotected oral sex EVER!

I took a HIV oral test on Oct 23 (1 month duration from the encounter on Sept 22) and it was HIV NEGATIVE. The guy who assisted me with the test told me my chance of getting HIV through the mouth is low to none. I had called HIV hotlines numerous times and all them workers told me what am I worried about.

Yesterday I got back my blood result Nov 4, 2009. The blood was drawn on Oct 21. 2 days less of a month. The blood result showed that I am NEGATIVE on gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, and HIV. All were negative.

I understand HIV can be spread by blood, semen, or vaginal fluid. She isn't a lesbian so I know she can't contract HIV through vaginal fluid. It's the semen or blood other guys might have transmit to her without knowing that might transmit to me.

Same day I took my HIV test (Oct 23 and Oct 28) I went to see my urologist to check for bacteria in my urine. I'm clean. That eliminates gonorrhea or chlamydia.

Understanding that there is a window period. Experts told me 95% of most people who are infected with HIV are tested HIV POSITIVE within the first month. I have this month (November) and December for me to reach that 3 month period window.

Fortunately I was able to get a hold of her and she also went and took in the blood test.

We both are HIV/STD NEGATIVE. Both of our test was taken on the end of October.

Summarize it:

Unprotected Oral Sex
Protected Intercourse
Sucking/wrapping my lip tongue on her tongue after the unprotected oral sex she gave me.
Ejaculation in her mouth.

Oral Exam tested NEGATIVE (Test taken on Oct 23)
Blood Test NEGATIVE (Blood drawn on Oct 21)
She did a blood test that came out NEGATIVE.
She and I tested negative. (Test were all done end of October)

My question is what is my level or chance or exposure to HIV and how worry I should be?

2nd question is would you recommend me to take another oral/blood test again on the month of December (my 3 month window period) for me. I am no longer sexual active after this incident. I've learned my lesson really bad.

3rd: Does my sore throat or tightness area around my throat be HIV related?

4th: How reliable my oral/blood exam result be within the first month within my situation if I was at any risk?

Right now my body isn't the best of feelings right now. I have been having diarrhea for over a month. Lost of appetite. Depressed. Stressed with lots of anxiety. I don't know if these are the symptoms of HIV acute infection that has been bugging me or that the stress I have put on my body has caused something like this to happen thinking that I'm actually sick.

I am so so so so so lost. I cannot imagine myself being HIV POSITIVE. I have a beautiful great great girlfriend I want to be with. I cannot imagine seeing myself carrying that stigma around me if I were to be sick. I just can't. I really salute to those who are carrying this infection/disease and is able to lift their head and live strong. I just can't. I just can't. Writing this far I am in absolute tears from this moment.

Sorry about the words being over limit. I always thought that the more detail you provide a better answer you can get.

I cannot edit or re-state my question. Therefore I have no choice but to do it here.

What are my chances of getting HIV from unprotected oral sex?

I waited for 1 month/30 day before getting tested and it was negative.
My blood test came out negative.

Was I ever at any level of risk from having unprotected oral sex?
She and I tested negative. The test were done on end of October.

You are not at risk for HIV from the exposures you describe. The fact that your partner is HIV negative assures you that you were not exposed to HIV (the chance that she might have been seroconverting is so low that it is not worthy of consideration).

Further, even if she had been infected, there is no meaningful risk of HIV from condom protected genital sex, nor for unprotected receipt of oral sex.  The quoted figure for HIV risk, if one has oral sex with an infected partner is less than 1 in 10,000 and, in my estimation that is too high. Some experts state there is no risk at all from oral sex.  Neither of us on this site have ever seen or reading the medical literature of a convincing instance in which HIV was passed by oral sex.
You have nothing to worry about.  Take care.  EWH

Doctor Hook,

Understanding that those who are infected with the virus will trigger a positive within the 1st month after the exposure/encounter. Since I tested negative within my 1 month time, would you still recommend me getting another blood/oral test within my 3 month window period sir?

by hhdeng, Nov 08, 2009 12:11AM
Also sorry.

To re-edit or clear up my question earlier.

I was receiving oral sex from her. I did not give oral sex. Does that matter in anyways of risk?

by Edward W Hook, MD, Nov 08, 2009 12:26PM
There is no risk of HIV from exposure of any sort to a partner who has a negative HIV test. Furthermore, in your case, the activities you describe do not put you at risk for getting HIV.,  Thus your tests will be negative no matter when you take them.  If a person had been exposed to HIV, a test at 1 month would detect over 90% of infections acquired a month earlier.  .

This will be the last response to this thread. There will be no further replies.  Take care and do not worry  EWH

Thank you very much sir. You do the same and take care. I'll do my best to not worry any further and get tested on December which would be my 3rd month window period. Thank you again very much
