HIV Concern

Hi,

I had sex with an escort in 24th March, we had oral sex and protected sex. Whilst giving her oral sex I recall something foreign as it moved and noticed a different taste and then alot of blood on the blanket - she dismissed this. She is a registered high class escort and has a very high rating and lots of clients also states she doesn't do unprotected and get's std checks regular. Hence didn't think about it too much again afterwards.

Approx 1-2 weeks later I had an eye infection shortly followed by some yellow/green discharge from penis on one occasion with some blood discharge, I also had burning sensations when going for a wee. I started getting concerned so went to a GUM clinic on 9th April and had tests for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, and HIV. They gave me four tablets to take which they said would help with the UTI and also clear up any Chlamydia, I also went to the doctors who gave me some antibiotics to treat both the eye infection and UTI. This didn't work so on the 21st April I went to the doctors again and they gave me different antibiotics for UTI and drops for my eyes - this cleared things up. I got my results from GUM clinic after chasing them up as I hadn't received a text on 22nd April and they said everything was clear and okay.

I felt alot better mentally from the results however I was still not well dry throat, fatigue and night sweats, which led me to conclude that maybe it was HIV and as a result I went for a DUO TEST on 30th April they also tested for Hepatitis both were negative and he basically said as this was 99.8% reliable that I was okay and if I wanted peace of mind go for a further test after 3mths. Since which I have still had night sweats (when through a bad 5-6 days where my clothes we soaking) my eyes have been sore and I feel tired all the time (fatigue), my neck glands feel sore and my arm glands feel sticky. Given this I continued to read into symptoms and everytime I keep thinking HIV as I've never had an answer to the discharge, fatigue and dry mouth/sore throat etc...

I then decided to go for another DUO Test and had this on 5th June this came back negative, I chose this as I wasn't quite at 90 days and go on holiday on 19th June with family for two weeks. This once again gave me some piece of mind however since my mouth has got worse and now have some white spots and throat, tongue and lips are really dry and sore.

I have a wife and two young children so throughout this have been completely paranoid and anxious about the whole situation and have told my wife what I have done which has put some strain on our relationship. I have been thinking allsorts as I had sex with her one since I saw the escort and it was unprotected (although I didn't ejaculate inside her). I have considered every angle including what if I had given it to her and could I live with myself etc...

Not sure what symptoms are real and which ones aren't anymore also had doctors check for diabetes, liver, kidney infections etc... nothing hence keep returning to HIV.

I've been in touch with the escort since who states she is clean and is still working and advertising herself on Adultwork so not sure if this is me being paranoid and due to anxiety/stress this is what my body is now doing or whether this is more than a coincedence given the unexplained discharge / eye infection etc... and symptoms since.

Any views would help at the moment!

I'm now thinking of going for the 90 days test on 18th June which is slightly before the 90 days what do you think?!?!

Any help would be appreciated

Well hopefully Fridays test will confirm as feeling awful at moment my oral thrush is getting worse not better and fatigue and night sweats and sweating more during day just wont go away.

Just can''t help but feel result is going to be positive as the symptoms have all been there etc.... and no other explanation for them!

If you do have sex unprotected is there a 1 in a % chance of passing it on statistics does anyone know?

Mike,

Thanks for your reassurance, I'm trying to move on however everytime I do something happens as I say the latest being getting oral thrush/candida for no reason which ends up taking me back to the same place hence the question about whether it is worth having the 90 day test at 85 days so I can move on and hopefully enjoy my holiday or is it better to have after 90 days when I return (not sure if there is a tolerance if that makes sense).

All,

Finally is there any difference in the 90 day test which GUM clinics do and the one that private clinics offer as I would prefer to know quicker hence the private clinic but not sure if they are the same or not?

Conclusive - That's all we can tell you. I don't think any one here in the forum would do the stats. I personally never would, I have said this time and again, statistics are just like those micro skirts, they reveal more than what they hide.

You have conclusively tested negative and that's the end of the story, you don't have it.

Please move on.

Does anyone know what the % accuracy of the 90 day test would be if I had it at 85 days?

Just been doctors this morning who thinks I have Oral Thrush/Candida which given this is related to HIV has now made me even more concerned again, any thoughts?

I also meant to add that I have bleeding gums quite regular and as I brushed my teeth just before the encounter it is highly likely that if there was blood it will have come in contact with mine hence why I'm concerned didn't really think about this at first as didn't think I was taking a risk with the oral side however now having read up on this alot more informed.

The thing that is doing my head in is that everything statistically is telling me no but my symptoms all seem to suggest otherwise and have all happened in the time window and since the contact. I'm normally a very health person and I'm sure anxiety could cause some of these but not all hence why I'm not in a good place couldn't live with myself if I have given my wife a death sentence etc... hence the post really.

Given my timing of the DUO TESTS could it have missed the detection due to lateness of me taking them both and does it matter if you take the 90 day slightly early or does this decrease the %?

Sorry just thought I would add these bits...
