HIV DNA PCR

HIV DNA PCR

Hi

I had a protected sex with a sex worker about a week ago. But I was not v comfortable with my act and have a fear that I contracted HIV or some infection. I saw a doctor 2 days ago, he said I have nothing to worry about, but suggested me to take a HIV DNA PCR test. He also added that I didnot need any tests, but, he recommends it for my solace. I dont have any symptoms yet, but I am very worried, and feel that something is wrong with me, even a little itch anywhere on my body makes me think that some thing is terribly wrong.

I would have taken the HIV DNA PCR test, which the doctor said I can take it after 72 hours after the exposure to risk, but I read a lot about this test on the internet and that it has a high false positive rates. Pl help and letme know is HIV DNA PCR a reliable test? or does it have high false positve rates?

Thank You.

You had protected sex and didn't have a risk. We can't help you with your guilt. For your info PCR DNA tests are not approved diagnostic test which you don't need to begin with.
